Ultimately, looking at the big picture of my life, I have to say, things are very good. I love the woman I will be spending the rest of my life with, and she loves me back. We are both at Lakehead now, she's majoring in social work, and I am finishing my honours in computer science. Besides a few differences in our schedules, our lifestyles--the university life--now match, and this has been great. Throughout the time we have been spending together I've seen both the good and rough edges of our relationship, felt pain, and joy. And had a whole lot about myself revealed to me. It has been an adventure, and one that I long to continue.
My semester this year is fairly light. It worked out so that I take all of my electives this year, which means I'm taking a course in photography, and a slack course in HTML. Taking a course in HTML is almost scary, in that it reveals to me just how much I know about this field, and how I think about technology.
So... that's my update for now. Must get back to reading. Later!
Imagine what it would be like to be a pilot flying high up in the sky, with your compasses and maps in front you, carefully following your flight plan to every careful detail, and then, just at the right time and the right moment in front of you is the runway you been searching for the whole trip. Imagine being in a sailboat on the ocean for months, doubtful that you’ll ever find land, but then, just in front of you is a new continent.
Life seems to call for adventure, but maybe more specifically it’s calling for exploration; searching for something to discover.
We discover new songs, we discover new friends, we discover new interests, we discover new places.
Just think for a moment about everything in life that you have discovered, and how you’ve felt about each one of them.
I remember the day I discovered I’m alive.
I remember the day I discovered the woman I love.
I remember the day I discovered that there was a God.
I think discovery is the strongest feeling.
The day before Nathan preached about being stewards of the world God created, Megan and I went to Trowbridge Falls Park. When we got to our favourite place to waddle in the water, we noticed that the place was covered in garbage. It was rather disgusting, and the garbage that littered the river ranged from beer cans to baby crackers. Megan and I have noticed that God has a way of communicating to us by putting us in situations that will somehow be connected to a sermon the next day. This has been happening to us consistently for the past year.
So, after hearing Nathan's sermon we've decided to organize a cleanup at Trowbridge, for Sunday, August 6th at 2pm. We will provide garbage bags so just show up. Also, remember there is a river there, and water which tends to be very warm... so you might want to consider the hint I'm dropping. Everyone is welcome to come.
It's interesting how the best things in life, God has given us for free. And we as his people tend to neglect that fact.
love
